Double hammocks are great for snuggling up with someone or even solo adventures. I prefer them over solo hammocks because they’re larger, and that extra width really comes in handy. You can more comfortably sit up, or wrap it up over you when you’re lying down.
Hands down, a double hammock is needed if you plan on sharing with someone else. They are very comfortable for two people to lay either in the same direction or facing each other.
You will practically be on top of each other, very closely intertwined, so make sure you like the person. If you do, you’re in luck. There’s no better place to snuggle and nap together than in a hammock.
If you’ve poked around online—especially Amazon—then you know there are tons of options out there. This list includes the best, high quality double hammocks. I don’t suggest spending $20. You get what you pay for sometimes, and it will not last.
There are hammocks on this list that range from just under $40 to about $80. All are well-made and will last, standing up to use in the great outdoors.
Most hammocks do not come with straps, so I’ve included some quick links to quality tree straps below, as well as a few hammock stands, if you’re in the market for that.
Please note, if hammocks do come with rope, please do not use it to hang from a tree. Thin rope digs into the bark and causes damage. It’s best to use proper hammock straps—the wider the better. If you aren’t sure what kind of straps to get or how to use them, check out the guide to everything you need to know about hammock straps.
Grand Trunk Double Hammock
Grand Trunk is one of my favorite brands because their hammocks come in a variety of awesome prints and patterns, whereas most others are solid colors. The parachute nylon material is called that because it’s the same fabric used in real-life parachutes. It’s durable and can handle shoes, pets—you name it. The hammock weighs 28 oz and can hold up to 400 lbs. This double hammock is 10’6″ x 6’6″, one of the largest double hammocks out there.
ENO DoubleNest Printed Hammock
If you know anything about portable nylon hammocks, you’ve probably heard of ENO. It’s one of the most popular hammock companies, and they have some awesome prints to spice things up. This hammock is designed for two people and comes in a dozen color combos and patterns. They’re well made and durable, designed to withstand the outdoors. Don’t forget hammock straps!
Kammok Roo Double
Kammok also makes durable, high quality hammocks of all sizes—even for kids. Its popular Roo hammock also comes in a double size, made with durable water-resistant fabric. The hammock is rated to support 500 lbs and weighs just 18 oz. When it’s hung, it spans 10′ long and 5’7″ wide—plenty of space for two people to squeeze in together. Straps are not included.
Vivere Double Hammock (with Stand)
Good ol’ Amazon has you covered. I own this hammock and use it quite a bit. For a great price, this is a comfortable, cotton hammock that’s also very well made and comes with its own space saving steel frame. It’s easy to assemble and take apart, so you can toss it in the trunk to bring car camping, to the park, a friend’s BBQ, wherever.
Bear Butt Double Hammock
Bear Butt offers some nice color options and is reasonably priced. This hammock spans 10′ x 6′ and can hold up to 500 lbs. It weighs 1.6 lbs with the included ropes. However, you absolutely should not hang a hammock with ropes. They are too thin and dig into the tree bark. You will definitely want to buy some proper hammock straps to safely hang and protect the precious trees.
Wise Owl Outfitters Double Camping Hammock
Wise Owl is an economical hammock option but still good quality. With more than 7,500 reviews on Amazon, they have a stellar rating of 4.8 stars. It’s a family-owned business, and products are made in Nashville, TN, USofA. The color options are a bit limited, but if that doesn’t matter to you, this is a great choice. The double hammock is 10′ x 6.5′ and weighs 26 oz.
ENO Fuse Tandem Hammock System
Ok, this isn’t a hammock, but it’s the best double hammock accessory out there. This handy contraption hangs two hammocks side by side, using only one set of straps. It’s great if you want to hammock with a buddy but not quite in the same hammock.
HAMMOCK STRAPS
I have a full guide to how to hang a hammock with straps. It breaks down all the different options, how to hang from trees, plus things like strap extenders and tree protectors.
Grand Trunk Colorful Tree Trunk Straps
Grand Trunk gets the award for the most colorful strap options. It’s fun to get matching colors to compliment your hammock design! These are 10′ long with 18 adjustment points on each strap. I own several pairs and have used them for years. They’ve never come close to showing wear and tear or ripping.
ENO Atlas Hammock Suspension System
ENO’s most popular hammock straps are strong and durable. In years of using these, I’ve never so much as had a stitch tear or stretch. Each strap is 9′ long and has several loops to get your hammock height just right.
Kammok Python 10 Hammock Straps
These straps are 10′ long with 20 points of connection on each strap. They’re lightweight but hold up to 500 lbs.
HAMMOCK STANDS
Another important hammock accessory is a hammock stand. If you’re going somewhere without trees or a place that prohibits hanging hammocks from trees—like a lot of state parks—you’re going to need a hammock stand.
There are a lot of great options when it comes to hammock stands. They are lightweight and portable, but there are differences to consider before buying.
This post breaks down all the best hammock stands, and here are a few of my favorites.
Kammok Swiftlet Portable Hammock Stand
The bottom bar of Kammok’s portable hammock stand is adjustable and can fit anywhere from kids’ size hammocks to extra long hammocks. This stand is just 15 lbs—lighter than a lot of other options—so it’s easy to carry around and a quick setup.
ENO SoloPod Hammock Stand
ENO makes several great portable hammock stands, including this solo version. It does weigh 58 lbs, so it’s not something you’ll be taking to the park for an afternoon, but it’s well made and will last. It can hold up to 400 lbs.
